When we think of an electric car, the first thing that pops into our minds is that the vehicles, like the Mitsubishi i, produce zero emissions and require no gas, saving drivers in the Hickory area time and money at the pump. What we might not think about is how to use EVs as mobile power reserves. Mitsubishi is however, and it's setting out to research the possibility.

Already proving their first major market electric vehicle is a lean, mean, green driving machine, the 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV is perfect for urban commuting with its 126 miles per gallon-electric in the city, and 99 MPGe on the highway. Mitsubishi still has a lot left to prove with the electric hatchback, however, and it's going to push the limits of the i-MiEV by entering a modified version in the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Automakers from across the globe gather annually in Switzerland to show off the latest and greatest innovations in the industry at the Geneva Auto Show, running March 8-11. The opportunity to see new models, concept cars, or the newest technological wizardry is something Mitsubishi aims to be a part of as the newly revamped 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander is scheduled to make its international debut at the world-renowned event.

Mitsubishi i Ready for North America

The 2012 Mitsubishi i hasn't even arrived at dealership lots yet, and already it's receiving praise from drivers and critics alike. How is this possible? The soon to be released Mitsubishi i EV, based off the i-MiEV over in Japan, will be rented out by Hertz rental car corp. - at least over in the UK.

Car giant Hertz is going to be adding the battery powered vehicle to its UK fleet. At first, it will only be offered to customers who are part of the "Connect by Hertz" car-sharing club.

Mitsubishi's U.S. assembly plant in Normal, Illinois is shifting its emphasis away from regionally focused vehicles. In the future, vehicles rolling off the plant's assembly line will be smaller global cars, hybrids, and electrics.

The British Government recently made the Plug-In Car Grant (PICG) effective, offering 25 percent of the worth of a sub-75 g/km car up to the maximum amount of five thousand pounds. Three days later, Mitsubishi announced an assortment of special payment plans for its all-electric i-MiEV, which qualifies for the government's grant funds.
